Bach Cantatas
15th February 2016
1.05pm
Leeds Town Hall

This selection of Cantatas has everything, from the plaintive serenity of single-movement funeral cantata 'O Jesu Christ, my soul's true light', the wistful duet of bass and oboe as Christ contemplates his final journery to Jerusalem, through he famous Soprano aria 'My heart ever faithful', described by Sir John Eliot Gardiner as 'surely one of Bach's most refreshing and unbuttoned expressions of melodic joy and high spirits, to Bach's youthfully exuberant and innovative setting of Martin Luther's Easter hymn 'Christ lay in death's dark shadow'.
