Join HI-Boston for an important discussion with the founder of a Disaster Relief Organization
David Campbell is the founder of All Hands Volunteers, a disaster relief organization, that aims to support communities by mobilizing the power of volunteers. David has been a technology executive, board member, investment banker, and humanitarian field volunteer. He went to Thailand in 2005 immediately following the tsunami, and became one of the founders of HandsOnThailand.org, which brought over 200 volunteers and several hundred thousand dollars to assist the rebuilding of five Phuket fishing villages.
David incorporated All Hands Volunteers (previously known as Hands on USA and Hands On Disaster Response, respectively) on Sept 6, 2005, and brought 1,500 volunteers to Biloxi, MS. Under David’s leadership over the next seven years, the organization managed over 30 projects, including major efforts in Haiti and Japan, as well as many domestic responses.
David's talk will highlight how he managed to build a successful disaster relief agency, how individuals can mobilize themselves to become effective volunteers and what they can do today to help. This talk will be happening just days after he returns from a trip providing disaster relief to the Philippines.
The talk starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room.
