Say hello to the Active Parramatta Van’s newest program- Better Ageing! Funded by Sport Australia and in collaboration with The City of Parramatta Libraries. The aim of this initiative is to increase levels of physical activity among the over 65 population, particularly those least active, in order to improve overall health and wellbeing.

Better Ageing - Holistic Fitness is a FREE 8-week program is designed to empower and equip seniors with the confidence to participate in new exercise experiences.

Seniors of all abilities and fitness levels are encouraged to attend!

Each session includes a 10-minute group health discussion, followed by 50-minutes of interactive exercises, games and activities.

Cost: FREE

Number of Lessons: 8

Location: Level 2, Room B, 1 - 3 Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta

Day and Dates: Every Wednesday from 12th February to 1st April 2020.

Time: 10am to 11am

Important Information:

  • Spaces are limited due to the City of Parramatta's Fitness Training Guidelines, Council employ a “first in best dressed policy”

  • Registrations are essential. 

  • Attending all 8 sessions is essential. 

  • It is the responsibility of the participant to communicate all medical issues and injuries with the facilitator prior to facilitation.

  • For your safety, in the first session all participants are required to complete a pre-activity questionnaire form. In the event an individual identifies to have a known health issue, a clearance letter from your general practitioner will be required to undertake any physical activities.

  • If you have any health related concerns, please see your GP prior to the first session and obtain a clearance letter which will need to be provided to you session facilitator.

FAQs

What should I bring to the event?

Please wear appropriate non-restrictive clothing, enclosed shoes, water bottle, towel, medications and a pre exercise clearance letter from your GP (if you have any health related concerns).

Should I eat before the event?

A light snack is recommended. Please allow a minimum of 1-hour between your last meal and participation in exercise.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you can update your information via the Eventbrite website, you'll need to create a login.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, your name will appear on an attendance sheet. The facilitator will mark you as attended.

The term has already started; can I still join?

Programs are designed in a way that a participant will gain maximum benefit by attending all sessions. However, Yes you can still join as registrations will remain open throughout the 8 week Term.

I am recovering from an injury can I still participate?

It is suggested that you seek medical clearance from your health care professional. Participation is done so at your own risk.
