Apollo's Fire, celebrated for radiant, refreshingly dramatic performances of Baroque music on period instruments, returns to Berkeley with a signature work—Monteverdi's Vespers, a choral masterpiece of sacred and amorous texts, alms, motets, and hymns for orchestra, soloists, and chorus. Under the direction of harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell, the ensemble's recording of the Vespers made Billboard's top 10 list and earned wide critical acclaim.
