Beat The Heat is a community event that all are welcome to. It is designed to raise public awareness of runaway/homeless youth and the program that I run that works with them. We will be giving away--giving away, I repeat--T-shirts and promotional items such as water bottles, Post-It Notes, magnets, hairbrushes, and other knick-knacky things with our program name and number on them; the new T-Shirts this year also prominently feature my friend Judah's skateboard company logo. There will be two bounce houses up all day for the public to use, and there are some plans for events like a tug of war, touch football games, and ultimate Frisbee as well. There is a schedule of bands and DJs as well, and my latest information is that that has all fallen into place and will occur as planned. The program will be selling water for a dollar a bottle, with the proceeds going to help the program, and any and all donations will be welcomed, as well. The Belmar Food Cart is supposed to be at the park for most of the day, as well. And as I mentioned, there will some sort of dance performance in the late afternoon, as well. So come down and spend at least part of the day with us, if you can.

Beat the Heat is in a new place this year--but we're doing some new things, too. Saturday, August 15, at Cheri Lindsay Park in Binghamton. Bounce houses will be up by 10 o'clock. DJ's and bands all day. Skateboard Contest at 12:30 at the skate park. Like last year, T-Shirts and promotional material given away all day long. Water will be sold for a dollar a bottle; proceeds to benefit LIFE House Runaway Homeless Youth Program. The Bel-Mar Food Cart will be there all day as well, with a portion of their proceeds also going to LIFE House. Tentative lineup for music: Matti D and one other DJ before 12:30 PM (starting around 11) Sad Sorry at 12:30 Innate Days at 1:15 Ten Miles East at 2:00 The Quantum at 2:45 The Goodfruits at 3:30. DJ Zealous at 4:30. Times are approximate, but this is the plan at present. Come out and enjoy sun, fun, tunes, skateboard contest, and food. Pool at Lindsay is also open. No charge to enter, free shirts and other promotional material. All to raise awareness of and support the LIFE House Program for Runaway/Homeless Youth, serving youth and families in Broome County since 2002. Bring your friends, bring your kids, stay for a while and enjoy the day.

There are 10 slots open for the intermediate and 10 for the advanced contest. i need to get the official word from some people so i know for a fact they will be in the comp. once these slots are filled they are filled so get your slot. dont worry about not being able to be in the comp tho cause the best trick is a jam session so ANYONE AND EVERYONE can be in that. iI lready have a few people with locked in slots for the contest and I need the rest. hit me up and let me know. Ill have the competitors list when all the slots are filled.
