Building Your Project-Based Learning Program: Development & Implementation

Event ended

Target Group: Teacher Leaders, Coordinators and Heads of Department.
Introduction:
Given a shift in focus of universities and the job market to a more skills based, 21st Century skills economy, schools have introduced learning experiences to help better equip students. Project- Based Learning is one of the most effective ways to equip students with these skills as well- designed projects require deep investigation, critical thinking,  collaboration, creativity and innovation.
This thorough training will help provide educators with the skills to develop and implement these experiences, while equipping teacher leaders with the skills to support them. In the process, participants will learn to:
Personalize Learning: Educators will learn multiple strategies for assessing both formative and summative project work

  • Differentiate Learning: Educators will be equipped with the skills to differentiate projects for students of all learning styles and backgrounds.

  • Incorporate Academic Content: Educators will learn how to incorporate standards and skills in their curriculum to fulfill project goals.

  • Create Inquiry- Based Experiences: Educators will learn how to facilitate and develop student inquiry in a project- based experience.

  • Develop 21st Century Skills: Educators will learn strategies to help develop their students' ability to collaborate, communicate, innovate and think critically around project goals.

  • Work Collaboratively in an Interdisciplinary Team: Educators will develop strategies to work across grade levels and subjects to develop interdisciplinary projects

Project- Based Learning requires a wide set of skills to be implemented effectively. While most schools have introduced PBL as an approach to reach the above outcomes, the development of a common framework and experience will help ensure PBL has the most lasting impact
