Target Group: Teacher Leaders, Coordinators and Heads of Department.
Introduction:
Given a shift in focus of universities and the job market to a more skills based, 21st Century skills economy, schools have introduced learning experiences to help better equip students. Project- Based Learning is one of the most effective ways to equip students with these skills as well- designed projects require deep investigation, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and innovation.
This thorough training will help provide educators with the skills to develop and implement these experiences, while equipping teacher leaders with the skills to support them. In the process, participants will learn to:
Personalize Learning: Educators will learn multiple strategies for assessing both formative and summative project work.
Project- Based Learning requires a wide set of skills to be implemented effectively. While most schools have introduced PBL as an approach to reach the above outcomes, the development of a common framework and experience will help ensure PBL has the most lasting impact.
Program Outline:
With experience leading projects at High Tech High and innovative schools throughout East Asia, Kyle Wagner will engage participants in a 5 month Professional Development training from April- August to train teachers to develop and implement effective project- based experiences, while equipping teachers and teacher leaders with the skills to support them.
The training package would include:
Training Guides and Planning Resources: Comprehensive project resources that include planning guides, assessment rubrics, project examples and editable outlines.
