Coding & Robotics Bootcamp with micro:bit: 2-Days Bootcamp (26 & 27 Nov 2019)

Combining coding, robotics and creativity, this Build-A-Robocar Bootcamp is designed to expose your child to creating with technology.

The robocar that your child will build uses coding logic to control music buzzer, programmable ambient rainbow lights and motors to dance. The programming concepts learned can be applied to make mood lights for the bedroom, a mini delivery vehicle for simple errands within your home or play your favourite tunes. Conquering this bootcamp will set your child on the path to building bigger and better autonomous vehicles!

Your child will learn:

Fundamentals of Coding & Robotics

• Module 1: Introduction to micro:bit & Makecode Platform

• Module 2: Working with micro:bit LED matrix

• Module 3: Programming Concepts & Constructs

• Module 4: Making Music with the Buzzer

• Module 5: Using Addressable & Non-Addressable LEDs

• Module 6: Controlling Motors

Our aim is to help your child learn by doing and build 21st century life skills including creative confidence, self-directed learning and fundamentals of coding and robotics. And of course, your child brings home his/ her custom-built robocar to continue learning and iterating it to become an ever-more powerful machine, expanding their imagination. Join us for an unforgettable experience and hands-on fun.

Workshop Schedule

This is a 2-days, 4-hour per day bootcamp designed for beginners. Bootcamp will be conducted at Kuriosity Electronics Playground (B1-23 Sim Lim Tower). No coding experience required. 

Prereqs & Preparation

All participants must be able to bring a laptop and charger to the workshop. All other tools, parts and accessories will be provided on-site. Price includes 1x micro:maqueen robocar with buzzer, 4 programmable rainbow lights, 2-way LED light indicator, 2-way IR line-tracking, ultrasonic obstacle avoidance sensor. Price excludes BBC micro:bit (educational microcontroller we will be using for the bootcamp), available separately at S$32.

Refund Policy

We understand that, sometimes, plans change. If you can no longer make it to the bootcamp, please email us at least 7 days before the scheduled event date for a full refund. No refunds will be given to last minute cancellations.

Note: Minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 participants per session. Bring your child's friends to start the fun and keep the momentum going, even after the bootcamp! We're keeping the group size cosy to encourage interactive learning. You will be fully refunded if the workshop minimum is not fulfilled.
