This single day session follows the stages of a design research project from framing, planning, recruiting, researching, analysis-synthesis and sharing insights.
Identify the purpose of research in the design process: data, insights, knowledge and empathy
Framing the research challenge to inspire design and solve tricky problems
Planning and managing research including selecting methodologies, participants to involve, recruitment, preparing materials such as discussion guides
Stronger research praxis including research activities and techniques, participant pre-work, and tips for when fieldwork gets tricky
Knowledge and skills for analysis and synthesis including making meaning, identifying insights and reflexive techniques
Storytelling and ways for sharing insights including narrative, experience frameworks and behavioural archetypes
