Are good intentions enough? Working ethically is a pillar of professional service delivery. Adhering to ethical principles safeguards the wellbeing of our clients, our organisation, and ourselves, so that we can focus on doing our best work. Good intentions are, however, not enough. In order to successfully embed ethical principles in our work, we need to become conversant with the relevant codes and best-practices, and to become effective in the use of appropriate tools and techniques. This half-day professional training workshop will equip you with the background understanding, practical know-how, and industry-proven tools to identify and resolve complex ethical dilemmas. During this workshop, you will: Examine the key elements of community services and the various relevant ethical codes. Review real-world ethical scenarios, dilemmas, and resolutions in group exercises. Learn and practise the stages of ethical decision making. On completion of this half-day workshop, you will: Understand the ethical issues, principles, moral debates, and legal responsibilities of professional community services practice. Understand concepts and techniques around confidentiality, dual and multiple roles, and risk assessments. Understand the critical considerations of informed consent, informed refusal, professional responsibilities, and professional boundaries in ethical decision making. Explore how various organisations and professional bodies in the health field conduct themselves. Identify ethical behaviour and articulate an ethical stance that can be effectively applied in your practice.
