Arts Northern Rivers and the Northern Rivers Conservatorium have commissioned music educator Karen Kyriakou to deliver two music workshops for the Northern Rivers Deaf Community and music teachers.

Facilitated by Karen Kyriakou, the program will explore models of working with both Deaf and hearing participants through two workshops targeting professional development for educators and a practical workshop for Deaf or hard of hearing students.

This workshop session is an opportunity for both music educators and Deaf or hard of hearing participants - exploring a practical workshop in music programming. Through introducing basic musical skills for Deaf or hard of hearing students, they will be guided through explorations of music-making as a group. Musical games and activities will be introduced in a safe and encouraging environment. Students will have the opportunity to explore instruments, interact with the elements of music, and create and perform music together.
