This course is qualified for 14 SDU points (Safety Officer - SISO) by WSHO, 3 CPD (Fire Safety Manager - FSM) by SCDF, and 12 PDU (Professional Engineer - PE) by Profeaaional Engineers Board Singapore (PEB). Employment and Empoyability Institurte (e2i) provides training grants (S$240/pax) to fund this course. Similar course had been conducted for LTA /SCDF (3 runs) and loss adjuster company.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Fires, of buildings, vehicles, products, materials or industrial facilities, are very serious threat to public safety, which often caused significant economic loss to the society and danger to human lives.

This course is designed for attendants to better understand the fundamentals of fires and the causes of fires. The course will provide basic introduction to fire science and present investigative techniques as well as laboratory methods for determining the origin(s) and causes of different types of fires. Case studies will demonstrate some actual investigation on typical fires to help attandents understanding investigation procedures.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand fire chemistry and behavior.
  • Know the possible ignition mechanism, burn patterns and fire spread.
  • Understand damage mechanisms by fires.
  • Understand the process and the application of fire scene investigations.
  • Learn the typical burning characteristics of fires.
  • Understand the types of laboratory techniques available to evaluate physical evidence recovered from fire scene.
