The Foundations In Paediatric Oncology Study Day

The foundations day is recomended for all nurses caring for children with cancer and their families. The day provides an overview of common paediatric oncology conditions, various treatment modalities, side effects and oncology emergencies. Supportive care in nursing practice the psychosocial impact of cancer are also discussed.

Course content:

• Common childhood cancers: leukaemia, solid tumour and central nervous system tumours
• Managing febrile neutropenia
• Common side effects of childhood cancer
• CVAD management
• Common clinical scenarios in paediatric oncology and the role of the nurse
• Overview of childhood cancer: history, diagnosis and treatment

This course is equal to 8 CPD hours
