Wolfgang Becker’s commercial hit Good Bye, Lenin! tells the story of Alex Kerner, whose mother is in a coma during the fall of the Berlin Wall. When she awakes in the summer of 1990, her doctor advises her family to protect her from any major shock – including the fall of the SED regime. Alex embarks on a comical mission to convince his mother that the GDR exists, but with time the illusion he so carefully creates begins to fall apart.
