This brand-new three-day training course will provide a complete insight to writing and submitting competitive proposals in response to the last calls of Horizon 2020. The combination of practical presentations and hands-on workshops will introduce all aspects that you need to know from identifying the right call for your project idea to developing and submitting a competitive proposal.

Join Europa Media’s Horizon 2020 Proposal Writing Academy and obtain the essential skills for writing a competitive proposal under Horizon 2020.

After going through a simple exercise, you will be encouraged to pursue a new way of thinking: impact driven proposal development. You will then proceed with developing your proposal concept step-by-step: defining sound objectives, designing an effective work plan with work packages, defining an ideal consortium, and putting together a realistic budget.

The impact and exploitation workshops will teach you how to draft the Expected Impact section of your proposal and identify the best scenario for exploitation and IP strategy. During the Dissemination and Communication workshop, the participants will define the relevant target groups and the most appropriate dissemination and communication tools, channels and strategies for disseminating and communicating the results of the project with a view to maximizing its impact.

Third day of the course is dedicated to the evaluation of H2020 proposals. You will become an evaluator and experience first-hand the evaluation process to better understand this critical stage of the selection process in Horizon 2020 and conceive your H2020 proposals in this light in the future.

5 hands-on workshops!
Workshop: Call analysis, concept, objectives and work plan
Participants are divided into small groups to practice the first steps of proposal development under Horizon 2020: Call analysis, project concept development, formulation of the project objectives and a preliminary work plan.

Workshop: Expected impact

Participants will discuss how to address the expected impacts listed in the work programme topic, and define KPIs and effective approaches for monitoring the achievement of impact.

 Workshop: Dissemination and Communication, Exploitation

Participants will define the relevant target groups and the most appropriate dissemination and communication tools, channels and strategies for disseminating and communicating the results of the project with a view to maximizing its impact. Participants will draft the Expected Impact section and identify the best scenario for exploitation and IP strategy.

Workshop: Budget; Finalising and submitting the proposal

Participants will identify the efforts and resources to be committed for the project, with a focus on dissemination and exploitation to define a sound budget. By introducing a real proposal together with the relevant evaluation summary report, the participants will have a better understanding of the evaluators’ perspective and get prepared to evaluate a real proposal.

 Workshop: Evaluation of Proposals

Participants will receive a full H2020 proposal and evaluate it. This simulation exercise begins with the briefing of the evaluators on the ‘call’ and the rules and procedures of the evaluation process. The evaluators will then conduct their individual assessment of the H2020 proposals, filling in their Individual Evaluation Reports (IER), after which they will gather with their fellow evaluators for consensus meetings. Once the consensus reports are drafted in each panel, final ranking will be established, which will serve as the basis for the allocation of budget amongst the highest ranked proposals.
