Measuring the health outcomes of consumers in mental health services is critical to ensure that every consumer continually benefits from the treatment and care they receive.

The systematic evaluation of outcome is becoming increasingly more routine in the provision of mental health and therapeutic services. Policy makers, third-party payers, government agencies, and consumers are concerned that limited health care dollars be spent on treatments that work. Patient-reported outcome (PRO) is an "umbrella term" that covers a whole range of potential types of measurement but it is used specifically to refer to all measures quantifying the state of health through the evaluation of outcomes reported by the patient himself/herself.

Specifically measures provide clinicians with the information they require to support the development of management/care plans, as well as the monitoring, review and evaluation of that care.

Measuring the health outcomes of consumers in mental health services is critical to ensure that every consumer continually benefits from the treatment and care they receive.

Experience shows that no single measurement scale offers an accurate overall picture of a person’s mental health, and the use of a ‘suite’ of measures can help to overcome the limitations of individual measures.

This workshop will introduce you to commonly used measures:

• DASS - Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale
• ORS - Outcome Rating Scale
• SRS - Session Rating Scale
• HHH - Helplessness, Hopelessness and Haplessness Scale
• Luscher Colour Diagnostic (introduction)

You will learn:

• Specifically what each of the measures are designed to assess
• How to deliver each of the measures
• How to score the individual measures
• What the "norms" are for each measure
• How to interpret the outcomes
• What the outcomes mean in terms of client/patient support and intervention

You will receive:

• A PDF of the reproducable pages containing each of the measures
• The scoring sheets for each of the measures

Susan Sandy is a relationship counsellor in private practice in Melbourne.  She brings to the training room many years of experience in counselling both in her own business and in her work with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in Victoria.  Working with both individuals and groups, Susan specialises in relationship counselling.  She is a practitioner and teacher of the 8-Color-Test and is one of the founders of the NeuroAssess tool, an online and app platform that uses diagnostic evidence based measures to assess the suicide risk of clients for mental health practitioners.

Shane Warren is a registered psychotherapist, certified clinical supervisor, certified practicing hypnotherapist and certified practicing coach working in private practice from rooms in Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong. He brings to the training room over 21-years of facilitation in personal and professional development programs. Shane is a practitioner and teacher of the 8-Color-Test and is one of the founders of the NeuroAssess tool, an online and app platform that assesses the suicide risk of clients for mental health practitioners.

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

There are not age limits to participate in this event.  We encourage participants to bring a business card to exchange, but ID is not required for registration.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The event is held in a CBD location so transport options vary and car parking is typically a challenge - we encourage participants to explore public transport options.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Bring yourself.  We supply you with a participant pack containing a note book, sticky notes, a document wallet and a pen. Participants packs are provided but hey it's always nice to have your own things with you...

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your ticket cannot be transferred for cash, but if you can not make it, someone else in your team may like to join the discussion on your behalf.  We are happy to accept that person just shoot us a quick note to advise the registration team at the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

This is helpful but we have modern technology that means we can accept you without the ticket.

What is the refund policy?

The ticket is non-refundable. 

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
