This course is designed for those who have a passion for games. Not just the playing of computer games but designing their own games. Introduction to Game Design is the first part of our Gaming courses. In this course you will have the opportunity to learn about game design, sprites, animations, levels, etc. You will go through and build scrolling shooter games, endless runner games and platform games, just to mention a few.
Level 1
This course is designed for kids who have done some coding before and have a passion for making computer games. This course focuses on the basic concepts around game design, sprites, collision events and will have them making games in no time.
Level 2
Building on concepts and knowledge gained in the “Introduction to Game Design Level 1” course, your child will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how to make a game. In this course they will continue developing their understanding of Game Design through the creation of maze style games using more complex controls, enemies, player tracking, multiple rooms etc.
Level 3
The third part of the Introduction to Game Design courses, this course builds on the skills developed in the previous 2 parts. In this course they will take their gaming design skills to the next level with the introduction of scrolling backgrounds, simple AI mechanics, complex collision events, sprite changes, and much more in the aim of creating a scrolling shooter game of their own creation.
Level 4
The final part of the Introduction to Game Design courses, this course builds on all the skills they have gained in the previous courses. Here, they will take their gaming design skills to the next level through the creation of platformer style games using more complex controls, gravity, player tracking, multiple rooms etc.

This course is suited for Grade 3 up and those who are eager to learn about making their own games.
Each sessions runs for 1 1/2 hours over 6 consecutive weeks.
Children can be dropped off 15 minutes prior to the starting time
We provide all the computers, equipment and software. Yet if your child does have a laptop they may choose to bring this along.
