Introduction to Literature Reviews – 30mins

This session will focus on different types of reviews and how to get started writing one. It will cover:

•          Different reviews for different purposes
•          The structure of a literature review
•          Reading, notetaking and writing tips

Introduction to Critical Appraisal – 1hr with 15-30mins discussion of a paper to be read as homework before the session.

This session will introduce the concept of critical appraisal, an essential skill for health professionals. You will learn about:

•          The hierarchy of evidence
•          Types of research methodologies best suited to answer your question
•          Types of statistical information used in quantitative studies
•          Tools available to help you critique studies
