Introduction to Oncology Study Day

The 'Introduction to Oncology Study Day' is a comprehensive two day course, developed and run by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology Department. The event will be held at the state of the art Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Parkville over two days on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th May. You are welcome to attend one or both of the days.

The course is ideal for Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Allied Health Assistants and Exercise Professionals. Included content is aimed at recent graduates or those with limited oncology experience.  Both days will include case studies outlining management of complex oncology patients in both the inpatient and outpatient / community setting.

Day 1: Introduction to Cancer, Cancer Pain, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Haematology, Cancer Emergencies, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema
Day 2: Exercise, Fatigue, Nutrition, Multidisciplinary Care, Suvivorship, Sexuality and Continence, End of life Communication and Cancer rehab/prehab. Day two will also feature workshops in the afternoon specific to either Exercise or Pressure and Comfort Care.

Comprehensive course notes along with morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided.
