Latif Al Ani Exhibition at Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde
If you’re a fan of photography, you should visit Alserkal Avenue’s Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde to see a brand new exhibition by the ‘Father of Iraqi Photography’ Latif Al Ani. From 18 November-28 December, the gallery is displaying a collection of 80 mainly black and white images by the esteemed artist titled ‘Vetera Novis Augere’ (Augment The Old With The New).
This exhibition offers a unique insight into life in Iraq from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, revealing a past unknown to even Iraqi people themselves. Ani’s images serve as a poignant reminder of how life has changed in the country in recent decades. This is the first time the artist’s works have been shown at Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde, and the exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Arab Image Foundation, Beirut.
