The Copland Foundation Nina Stanton Attingham Lecture

Michael Queale, Principal Heritage Conservation Architect at Heritage South Australia, was awarded the Copland Foundation, Nina Stanton Attingham Scholarship in 2018 to attend the Attingham Trust London House Course, in London, during September 2019.

The London House Course focused on the development of domestic architecture in London, from medieval times to today. The course was attended by a mix of conservation architects, curators and historians from Australia, UK, Ireland Europe and the USA. Michael will describe the sites visited, the discussions held and reflect on the influence of London domestic architecture in the early colonial period in South Australia.

Michael has over 25 years of experience in conservation architecture, previously as a consultant architect and currently as manager of the conservation architect team at Heritage South Australia. Michael has local, interstate and overseas experience in cultural heritage management, lectures in architectural history and is also the current secretary of Australia ICOMOS, Australia’s peak NGO for cultural heritage matters.
