Join Connect the Dots for a relaxed conversation drawing connections between the ideas and themes in four sculptures. This tour will focus on the sculptures in closest proximity to the Visitor Centre.
This tour is highly recommended for visitors who enjoy a gentle pace. These works that are in close proximity to each other allowing for a relaxing morning. Stools will be provided so that we can comfortably chat for a time at each of the artworks.

What is Sculpture in the Gardens?
Sculpture in the Gardens is a free public event held for 3 months biennially at the Auckland Botanic Gardens. The exhibition’s main feature is a 1.8km sculpture trail through the Gardens. The event also features indoor galleries, guided walks, entertainment and workshops.
The upcoming exhibition will be the 7th one held, and will run 17 November 2019 - 1 March 2020.
The event is undertaken by the Friends of the Auckland Botanic Gardens, supported by Auckland Council and the Auckland Botanic Gardens
How long is the Tour?
The tour itself runs for an hour, and then you have the option to join us in the cafe for an morning coffee to continue sharing ideas or just chatting about the weather. We will have reserved a table.
Are refreshments included?
Hot drinks and home baking will be provided for a $3 per person. Please bring cash on the day, or if you are booking as a group we can invoice you following the workshop.
How fit do I need to be?
The sculptures are scattered throughout the gardens, and Connect the Dots have designed our tours to accommodate the needs of individuals with limited mobility. This tour has the least amount of travel distance between sculptures.
What do I need to wear?
Please wear comfortable shoes and a hat, and you may like to bring an umbrella to shield you from the sun. Please apply complimentary sunscreen before the tour - you can find this at the front desk when you arrive.
What else do I need to bring?
Please bring a bottle of water.
Where will we meet?
The tours begin just outside the Visitor Centre, on the park side, and Connect the Dots will have two fox terriers with them to help you identify them!
What if it is raining?
Please contact us if the weather has put you off by texting 021 990 370. We will assess on the day as sometimes showers pass quite quickly!
What if I need to cancel?
We appreciate that things can come up that mean you are no longer able to make it. We would appreciate as much notice as possible so that we can offer this opportunity to someone else. If you book more than 6 tickets you will be considered a group and will be expected to give 48 hours notice.
Dogs?
Yes! Connect the Dots' Make Moments programme comes with two foxies. They will be kept on a leash at all times and are very friendly.
Why is it free?
Through the generous support of Friends of the Garden. The Friends are a not-for-profit group, who’s vision for the event is: To provide “Sculpture for everyone’” by making high quality, contemporary New Zealand sculpture easily accessible and enjoyable by a wide local and international audience.

Who is the Make Moments programme aimed at?
Connect the Dots Make Moments programme is generally aimed at our older people and people living with dementia, but all are welcome. These tours are suitable for everybody who enjoys sitting around amazing art and having a chat (or listening to others) about the work and what it means to them.
