Working with Young People from Multicultural Backgrounds: National Youth Settlement Framework The NYSF is Australia’s first evidence-based framework supporting good practice in youth settlement. A conceptual and practical resource, the NYSF is designed to enable services to respond more effectively to the needs of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and support their active participation in Australian society. The NYSF sets out the eight good practice capabilities that should inform a youth-focussed approach in the provision of settlement services, including those funded under the Department of Social Services- Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) Program. This is a valuable professional development and networking opportunity for workers from a variety of sectors including youth, settlement and government.  This 1.5 day training exploring: - How practicioner and policy makers can incorporate the NYSF into thier work, including using the NYSF Assessment Tools - Factors contributing to good settlement outcomes for young people - Good practice in facilitating active citishenship and introduction to reflective practice - Hear from young people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds All participants will receive copies of the NYSF, including additional resources and tools. This training is linked to a range of competencies in the VET sector Training Packages for Community Services and Health.  Community leader or unwaged volunteer? We would like to make this training accessible to everyone. If you are a community leader or an unwaged volunteer and would like to attend, please get in touch. Time Please arrive to register from 9:00am so we can start promptly at 9:30am. Catering MYAN NSW will provide lunch, morning and afternoon tea. Please let us know via the registration page if you have any dietary requirements. All catering will be halal. Getting There If driving, parking facilities are available in the Civic West Parking Station in Gibson Street, Honeysuckle area or council operated metered street parking.  Any person who has been granted a NSW or inter-state Mobility Parking Scheme permit, including an Australian Disability Permit, is able to park in Disabled, Staff and General bays free of charge. Your valid parking scheme permits must be clearly displayed on the passenger side of your front windscreen.  Accessibility The University of Newcastlle City Campus is an accessible space.
