Rise & Repeal Waterford

Rise & Repeal Waterford are a pro-choice group aiming to mobilise locals to urge the government towards repealing the 8th Amendment. Rise & Repeal Waterford are a team of pro choice, inter-sectional feminists. We set up the group in August 2016 and have held many events in Waterford City to highlight the issue for a total repeal of the 8th amendment and we have been committed to raising awareness of this necessity. Our aim is to open the conversation in Waterford and engage those who may be undecided or who may need more information and to then mobilise those who share our views. We regularly organize events in Waterford City that we hope demonstrate to local politicians that their constituents call for repeal! We want to highlight to them that the 8th Amendment is an infringement upon the human rights of women, trans people and non binary people and now is the time for change. Irish people under the age of 52 have never had the opportunity to vote on their own reproductive rights. What we want is the right to decide. We believe it is imperative we have the right to choose. We want to know that our bodies are our own, to know that our health and lives matter. We are demanding a referendum and we want the Irish government to act now.
