Level 2 fitness, TRX instructor and a 200 hr certified Yin & Yang Yoga teacher. A strong believer in a holistic training regime (strength and mobility) to compliment all disciplines. Start or continue your health and fitness journey with me. Here's my story: My journey has shown me that all that I do needs to be complimentary. I advocate the value of a holistic training regime, impact/high intensity and deep stretches to reduce risk of injury and increase flexibility/mobility. I firmly believe that yoga and strength/intensity training is the perfect combination - either for improving fitness levels, increasing performance in other sports, recovering range of motion, mobility or strength or rehabilitating from injury. I have always loved sports, and exercise. I injured my back at work, and found yoga through Bikram, then Vinyasa and last (but most importantly for me) Yin Yoga. I managed to heal my back completely through yoga and smart, targeted training, and gained a new appreciation for just how amazing the human body is! In 2014 I signed up to climb the Gran Paradiso for charity. That kick-started a serious training regime, combining TRX, running and yoga. I had never enjoyed running, but found as I grew stronger through TRX (sweat), and more flexible through yoga (zen), I gained endurance, speed and miles to my running. Unfortunately, I injured my knee twice (first time after an unlucky tumble but thereafter due to wrong training). Thereafter my hip. No doubt this were related by over-compensation, so taking the time to recover, rehabilitate and strengthen my joints became top priority. Through thoughtful planning of exercise, TRX, HIIT, Yoga and very importantly, Yin Yoga - I managed to avoid surgery, and keep training for a marathon and a half marathon. I recovered my injury back to strength and shaved 11 minutes off my PB with only 6 weeks of running. This journey has shown me that all that I do, needs to be complimentary. I am an advocate for the value of a holistic training regime and believe that yoga and intensity training is the perfect combination - either for improving fitness levels or increasing performance in other sports.
