Celebrate the exciting reveal of over 1,000 vintage tiles in a spectacular showcase of Singapore's decorative tile history. Enjoy seeing the efforts of a unique project to explore traditional Chinese culture, foreign influences and local trends.
Singapore Heritage Tiles: A Decorative Legacy of Love will present over 200 exquisite tiles with diverse motifs including tigers, fairies and flowers from the Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. Art lovers, design enthusiasts and those who simply love beauty will be captivated by these ceramic treasures otherwise often locally known as Peranakan tiles.
Since May 2019, more than 100 community volunteers have been donating their time and energy to this project. I'm particularly proud to include possibly Singapore's only twin tiled bench tomb from 1913 as one of six 'star' tombs. I'd love to share the story of the unexpected restoration of this unique architectural beauty and efforts to trace the descendants.
Gather your friends and join us for an exploration of these international tiles, which will culminate in a special photo shoot.
I look forward to welcoming you to Singapore's most decorative heritage event!
cheers,
