Are you interested in contemporary dance, movement and performance making?
The D.N.A. Project is a 10-week program for people of all abilities, to explore the wide and variedworld of Dance and Movement Theatre.
When: Thursdays from 25 JulyTime: 10am to middayAge: 16+ (Carers welcome)Cost: $100 for 10-weeks
Where: Bankstown Arts Centre
The D.N.A. Project is a practical dance/movement program for abled and non-able bodied participants (all abilities) to explore the wide and varied world of Dance and Movement Theatre. Participants will be introduced to movement and dance-theatre practices that exist outside of typical “dance” classes, and will learn creative techniques which give rise to self-choreography and creative direction, born from their own ideas and experiences, culminating in performance.
This is not your typical dance program. As the name implies, participants will be encouraged and directed to create works which come for the most part from themselves, incorporating not just movement, but also conceptual ideas, sound, and other means of creative expression.
A long-term aspect of the D.N.A. program may also incorporate the creation by the ensemble of their own film and soundscape works to incorporate in their performances.
