Mentors are required to have a valid Working With Children Check Card (WWC). This is free for volunteers. If you do not yet have a card please apply online at
In the Occupational fields 1 on the application please select 52 Educational – Other institutions providing children’s study or training programs. At the compulsory training day you will be required to show either your WWC or evidence that you have lodged an application (a receipt).
We also require all Mentors to complete the Deakin University Students Helping Students Online Foundation Training module one week prior to their registered training day. If you have completed this online module previously (for a different Peer Support Program at Deakin), you do not need to complete it again as long as you can show evidence of it.
The online training module will take approximately 45mins. By completing this module in advance, we will be able to focus on more practical aspects of the mentoring role on the day. The module is located at
