About the speakers:
Professor Sarah Maddison is a Professor of Politics at the University of Melbourne where she is also co-founder and co-director of the Indigenous Settler Relations Collaboration. She has held various community roles including as former chair of the board of GetUp. The Colonial Fantasy is her ninth book. She is also author of Beyond White Guilt and Black Politics.
Professor Lindon Coombes is a descendant of the Yuallaraay people of north west NSW and has over 20 years’ experience working with and for Indigenous people in the government, not for profit and corporate sectors. He is currently Industry Professor of Indigenous Policy at UTS Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research and Co-Chair of Reconciliation NSW
National Reconciliation Week 2019 is a key activity in the Reconciliation Movement’s strategy to support Australians in making progress on the Five Dimensions required to achieve reconciliation. Each year the theme engages with one of the Five Dimensions, and the theme this year will focus on building positive race relations. This event is supported by the UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion.
