After a fire disaster, people's precious items are in a state of increased fragility. Either soot damage, water damaged from the house being saved or heat damage. Maybe just stomped on by the dog in the back of the family car. There is a lot of stress with 'returning' and healing after a disaster. It is often the significant things lost or altered which take up focus and distract from the tasks ahead and returning to normal.
This workshop is designed to talk about how to get back what has been lost ( yes even total lost when a house has gone and how to do much of the remedial care on the remaining things that matter yourself. Conservators need only be there in case of extreme damage.
This talk is delivered by Victoria Pearce who lived through ASH Wednesday and then the Duffy Fires and is again concerned that people can rest assured that even broken things are memory touch stones and many can be fixed. JUST DON'T THROW IT AWAY..wait and do the workshop
