RYA Coastal/Yachtmaster Theory

The RYA Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster theory is advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course.
The course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for RYA Coastal Skipper /Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills. This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.
Or RYA Yachtmaster Theory courses are taught over 40 hours with three exam papers. It can be covered as a series of evening classes or as an intensive course over 6 days or 3 weekends. A comprehensive course pack is included, as well as two exercise charts, course handbook, and the course exercises work-book. We also provide FREE OF CHARGE a full size course plotter, brass dividers and the RYA Training Almanac, saving you £25.

Course content:
Position fixing, Course shaping and plotting, advanced tidal knowledge, use of almanacs, admiralty & pilotage publications, electronic navigation, plotting weather systems, weather predictions and observations, using a barometer, collision regulations, customs regulations for cruising abroad, taking and interpreting weather forecasts
Ability after the course:
Able to safely plan day and night passages including offshore and inshore navigation
