Develop screen presence and acting skills for rehearsing and performing scenes to camera. Be filmed in short scenes from film and television drama.
Course components
Understanding of medium specific vocal and physical requirements.
Establish a relationship with the camera through use of eye line techniques.
Development of on screen personal presence and self-awareness.
Outcomes
Use voice and movement to create truthful on screen characters.
Demonstrate an ability to rehearse and present scenes authentically.
Capacity to use performance skills effectively for screen.

Flights and Accommodation:
From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.

Parking
There is no parking on-site at NIDA however there is paid parking on the University of NSW campus. The parking is a 10-15 minute walk from the NIDA building and is located at Gate 14 of the campus on Barker Street.
The UNSW parking area next door to NIDA, entrance via Day street, has free parking on weekends only. Other times it has permit parking for UNSW staff only.
There is also free all-day parking on some of the streets behind NIDA, but places are limited and can fill early.
As you may be aware, Sydney Light Rail construction is currently underway on Anzac Parade. From 8pm on Friday 25 November, the following changes to traffic conditions will be implemented:
Parking and bus lanes on both sides of Anzac Parade, from High Street to Barker Street, will be removed and a 24 hour clearway will be introduced.
A 50km/h speed limit will be introduced in this section of Anzac Parade.
There will be no right turn from Day Avenue onto Anzac Parade.
Most bus stops located outside NIDA or UNSW will either be relocated around clearways or closed through the construction period. Public transport to NIDA is still available; please visit transportnsw.info for the latest transport updates and to plan your trip.
