Shaykh Hamzah wald Maqbul Johannesburg Event: Eternal Creed course

Shyakh Hamzah wald Maqbul (scholar from USA and student of Shaykh Murabit al Hajj of Mauritania) wlil be giving a two evening course on constructing our Islamic world view in an age of Post Modernist perplexity and Intellectual Confusion. 

The course in titled: The Eternal Creed: Prophetic Belief in an age of Intellectual and Spiritual Confusion and will be at Qurtuba Islamic Academy in Linbrow Park in Sandton. Both events start at 7pm.

Who is Shaykh Hamzah wald Maqbul? 

Shaykh Hamzah wald Maqbul is one of the most noteworthy scholars in America and was also a student of the late Shaykh Muarbit al Hajj of Mauritania . He currently resides in Chicago and hold holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Washington in Seattle.

After graduation he went on to pursue traditional Islamic studies, which took him to a number of countries, including Syria and Egypt where he studied the Arabic language, Morocco, Mauritania, and UAE, where he studied the madhab of Imam Malik, grammar, usul al-hadith, and the two renditions of the qira’ah of Imam Nafi’, Warsh and Qalun, and finally Pakistan where he had the opportunity to study tafsir, usul al-hadith, hadith, ‘ilm al-rijal and Hanafi fiqh

Shaykh Hamzah is listed by the University of Washington as an expert on Islam and is invited to address various  community groups as well as all forms of media (TV, Radio, Newspaper, Internet). He has also given courses at the Annual Rihla Retreat in Konya Turkey with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad, Shaykh Umar Faruq Abdullah and others.
