Soun(d)ance 19 feature dancers Silver Yee, Leo Yap, improvisers/musicians from SB/DK Rastko Lazic (electronics) and Yong Yandsen (saxophone). Mark your calendar and bring your friends!
Soun(d)ance is a monthly series aimed at combining music and dance together in an improvisational and instantaneous context from dancers and musicians of various backgrounds. It attempts to encourage interdisciplinary practices and collaborations between performers.

Silver Yee:
Graduated MA in Dance Theory at Graduate Institute of Dance, Taipei National University of the Arts. Back in Malaysia, she has involved in numerous Contemporary Dance and Chinese Dance productions including “For Our Parents”, “See You When I See You”, “Last Song” etc. In 2013, She joined The Mythical Oriental Dance Company and has produced and performed in company productions such as “Wind and Cloud Chinese Dance Showcase”, “Ladies of the Red Chamber”. During her MA study in Taiwan, she also performed works for local and international artists, including “Remember not to say goodbye” by Lucas Viallefond, “But You Didn’t” by Jack Kek, “Thought and Voice of the Body” by Kathyn Tan, Mary Wigman’s “Dance of Death II” reconstructed by Henrietta Horn, “Unspeakable” by Su Shu etc. In 2017, she made her choreography and production debut with Jason Yap in “Kill Your Darlings”. As a dancer and arts administrator, she has toured internationally including Japan, Hong Kong and Edinburgh.
Leo Yap
An International Business graduates and been actively involved in performing arts since the year of 2003. Started with musicals and performed in and outside of the country, Leo then venture into the world of dancing, especially contemporary dance and further into improvisation and site specific dances. Currently, Leo is a freelance dancer, performing artist and choreographer; working with various choreographer, dance troupe and production company.
Leo started to choreograph short dance pieces since 2015 and also dance pieces for school theatre and musical play. Leo also do self-exploration/choreography on dance and structured improvisation, site specific dance as well as contact improvisation.
Besides that, Leo has also been active in other dance activities, workshops, forums as well as performances by DPAC, KLPAC, MyDance, Rimbun Dahan, and etc.
Rastko Lazic (electronics):
Rastko Lazić is a composer and improviser of electronic music based out of Copenhagen, Denmark. He has been composing music for contemporary dance, theatre, and television since 1996 including performances throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. He is mostly interested in experimenting with sound through free improvisation on any devices capable of producing sound. These are mostly electronic instruments and gadgets. He likes to call it Free Electronics. Although his main instrument is a modular synthesizer, in recent years he began playing Southeast Asian percussions and computer software. The computer software is mostly used for creating custom instruments and sound for installation pieces. He enjoys creating unheard instruments that sing unheard sounds and plays them on various tactile interfaces. The sound he creates ranges from minimal to noisy analog feedback.

Yong Yandsen (saxophone):
Yong Yandsen is an improvised saxophonist. He has played at the Asian Meeting Festival (Japan), Mosaic Festival Singapore, Choppa Eclectic Improvised Music Festival (Singapore), allEars Festival (Norway), Music Matters Festival (Sri Lanka) amongst others. Yandsen, together with Darren Moore and Brian O’Reily, form the improvised trio called Game of Patience. They have toured to Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. In 2018, he joined the another trio with Christian Meaas Svendsen and Paal Nilssen-Love. Yandsen has also done several solo tours to Japan and Taiwan. He is the co-founder of a Malaysian record label, LaoBan Records, focusing on releasing contemporary improvised music.
