A free club for both ADULTS & KIDS that rewards you for reading!
Why not be reward­ed for read­ing over Sum­mer? Alice Springs Pub­lic Library’s Sum­mer Read­ing Club is back and stronger than ever now that it will be open to ALL AGES! Yes you heard right, whole fam­i­lies can reg­is­ter and join in the fun. Club ben­e­fits include:
A prize for all mem­bers for their first 5 hours of read­ing, plus
Week­ly prize draws
Major prizes at the end of summer
A free pool par­ty & BBQ celebration
The Sum­mer Read­ing Club launched 6 Decem­ber 2019 and cul­mi­nates with a par­ty, BBQ & major prize draws at the Alice Springs Aquat­ic & Leisure Cen­tre on the 25 Jan­u­ary 2020.

Read­ing makes your mind stronger, broad­ens your per­spec­tive, stim­u­lates lit­er­a­cy devel­op­ment, helps you relax and is the per­fect way to beat the sum­mer heat!
It is an essen­tial skill for peo­ple of all ages.
Alice Springs Pub­lic Library is not only invest­ed in sup­port­ing the devel­op­ment of ear­ly lit­er­a­cy skills of chil­dren from birth, they are also keen advo­cates for sus­tain­ing lit­er­a­cy and pro­mot­ing the impor­tance of recre­ation­al read­ing across all ages.
A loss of learn­ing over the sum­mer months is often referred to as the ​‘Sum­mer Slide.’ As free, pub­lic, com­mu­ni­ty spaces, with access to a vari­ety of read­ing mate­ri­als and resources for all inter­ests libraries are best placed to help fam­i­lies com­bat the Sum­mer Slide.
