Kia ora Whakatane,
I'm quite lost for words. But I want to do something to show that what happened today is unacceptable. We will not let our tamariki grow up to live in a country where violence is accepted or seen as normal.
I hope that we can all gather together and let our children play, and allow our hearts to heal a little as a remember that they are the future and they don't know what hate means.
This will be informal, a way for those of us who might normally interact to meet together and reach across the divide. No speeches or protesting, just bringing our tamariki together to play and finding common ground as parents.
Please take the time to share this widely in our community. Aroha nui.
