In our time together, we will learn and practice simple principles of alignment in fundamental exercises/poses based on essentials of hatha yoga/functional movement biomechanics. Aligning with the sacred energy flow of the body is the simplest way to tap into your pranic vitality and return to the natural alignment that is your true nature. This training will give you options to refine your practice and teachings so that they become even more sustainable regardless of your lineage or dedicated asana style. These functional fundamentals are prehabilitative exercises that aim to prevent injuries before they can occur by bringing the body into its natural state of balance. Our time together will include areas most prone to injury in modern active yoga styles: the wrist, lumbar and cervical spine, and hips/knees! Sustainable Vinyasa Yoga creates a good understanding, body awareness, and integration between movement therapeutics and active styles of movement and yoga.

Susi Hately Aldous' book - Anatomy & Asana - Preventing Yoga Injury is a highly recommended book for this portion of the training.

Thank you, Sarah Barrett Olson: "I know without a doubt that your Sustainable Vinyasa Training is the best there is; it's authentic, it's well-researched, and it prepares its attendees to teach from the heart, smartly, and to everyBODY that comes through the door. Steph gracefully integrates yoga philosophy, anatomy, sequencing, injury prevention, and teaching techniques into the training. Further, she prepares teachers to teach with compassion; this aspect of the training is unmatched by any other training I've attended (and I'm currently in the process of obtaining my 500 hour certification)."

Join me in San Francisco? Early Registration discount ends next week. Here is what one yogini teacher recently said, "As a physician taking this training, I've been impressed by the seamless melding of traditional yoga teachings with information we have through modern sports medicine. Ahimsa and Satya rest firmly in the foundation of all asana guidance. Common yoga related injuries are addressed, along with common postural and other overuse/misuse physical issues. I believe this approach, and encouraged modification, opens the door to yoga for many different people. The long term benefit being enhanced depth of awareness, health and joy that comes with a sustained yoga practice. Highly recommend!" Karen Wright
