Acts 29 invites you to join us on the Sydney for our annual network conference, February 20-22 2020. Francis Schaeffer insightfully said, “This is the central problem of our age: all too often, we who are Christians, including those who know something of good theology, is that we tend to do the Lord’s work in the power of the flesh instead of in the power of the Spirit.” We will be exploring a biblical understanding of who the Holy Spirit is, and how he brings glory to Jesus by energising God’s people for holiness, spiritual disciplines, ministry, mission, suffering, and leadership. Speakers include Leonce Crump, Sam Chan, Adam Ramsey, Guy Mason, and Yoshito Nogushi along with pastors and leaders from around our network, who will help us explore what it looks like to live, lead, and serve by the power of the Spirit in every area of life. We will also have special guest, Citizens, leading us in worship throughout the conference! This years conference will also include: * Six plenary sessions on the person and work of the Holy Spirit in life and ministry * Eight breakout sessions and panels targeting specific areas of church planting and pastoral ministry * Time connecting with other church planters and church leaders from around Australia, New Zealand, and Japan! SPEAKERS Leonce Crump Léonce Crump Jr., is an author, international speaker, and the founder and lead pastor of Renovation Church in Atlanta. In 2008, Crump answered God’s call to relocate from Tennessee to Atlanta and begin the process of planting Renovation Church. He details the obstacles he and his family faced and the revelations he uncovered during this process in 'Renovate: Changing Who You Are by Loving Where You Are'. A champion for the Church’s participation in focused and intentional cultural renewal, Crump is the leading voice of a generation committed to operating as God’s redemptive agents in the earth. Except better. He and his wife, Breanna, reside in the heart of downtown Atlanta with their four children. Dr Sam Chan If you haven’t met Sam Chan, his life is partially Crazy Rich Asian and just Crazy Asian. He’s a doctor of medicine, lived, studied and received his PHD in the States and his recent book on talking to people about Jesus won an international award… but he grew up in Campbelltown, Sydney (when it was really rough), played Rugby Union for Sydney Uni (and been concussed many times) and hoped his mandatory piano playing would make him a good karaoke singer (it didn't). Working now with City Bible Forum as public evangelist, Sam gets even more that Jesus can seem weird to many, but will share what he learnt the hard way in presenting the good news of Jesus in the least weird way possible.  Adam Ramsey Adam leads the  Liberti family of churches on the Gold Coast (Australia), and also serves as the network director for Acts 29 Australia & New Zealand. After a decade of pioneering ministries in both Australia and the USA, the Ramsey’s moved home to the Gold Coast at the end of 2014 to plant a church that lifted Jesus high, loved each other deeply, and was fiercely committed to multiplication. In its first three years Liberti sent out two church plants, and is prayerfully planning to send out many more. The greatest privileges in Adam’s life are knowing that Jesus loves him, being married to Kristina, wrestling with his five kids, and preaching the gospel. Yoshito Noguchi Yoshito Noguchi, Pastor of SOMA Fuchu (part of SOMA Family of Churches Worldwide and the Acts 29 Network). Together with his wife, Ami, and their three children Yuka (9), Nana (7), and Atsuto (3), Yoshito is living and serving in Fuchu City, Tokyo where they are committed to see Great Commission disciples saturate all of Tokyo through proliferation of missional communities. Before returning to Japan in 2002, Yoshito lived in Chicago, Illinois where he attended Trinity Seminary. After graduating, he worked as a youth minister at Grace Mission Church in Osaka and was involved in church planting with Jr. and Sr. High students. In 2011, Grace Mission Church sent him out as a pioneer church planter to begin planting a church in Fuchu City while working full time as a home care worker. Guy Mason Guy Mason is the founding and Lead Pastor of City on a Hill , a church that began in 2007 with a small team and a big vision. Today, the church gathers across five locations, in three cities and is united around the central mission of knowing Jesus and making Jesus known. As the lead pastor, Guy provides peak leadership, teaching and vision for City on a Hill. Guy is a passionate communicator of the gospel who is committed to engaging culture with the beauty, truth and relevance of Jesus. He holds a B.A in Public Relations (R.M.I.T) and a Masters of Divinity (Ridley Melbourne). He is an ordained Anglican minister in the Diocese of Melbourne and active member of the Acts 29 Church Planting network. Citizens The Seattle-based band  Citizens  has been breaking molds since their shotgun birth in 2011. Forming just months prior to their debut EP, ‘Already Not/Yet', Citizens found instant success and endearment in the hearts and ears of people worldwide. Now with three acclaimed full length albums under their belt, they embark on what is to be their most ambitious project to date, ‘Fear.’ With a blend of weighty lyrics and post-retro Pep-rock, the tension that ‘Fear’ brings is sure to be the kind of record that gets under the skin in all the best ways. Please contact the organiser by sending an email enquiry to info.aus.nz@acts29.com ABOUT ACTS 29 Acts 29 is a diverse, global family of church-planting churches characterised by theological clarity, cultural engagement, and missional innovation Acts 29 stands in the tradition of historic evangelical confessionalism. While we believe it is vital that the elders of each of our churches determine where they stand on doctrines of second importance, we do wish to make known our convictions on the following five theologically-driven core values: Gospel centrality in all of life The sovereignty of God in saving sinners The work of the Holy Spirit for life and ministry The equality of male and female and the principle of male servant leadership The local church as God’s primary mission strategy Acts 29 will ensure that we are known for planting churches that plant churches, pursuing holiness and humility, being a radically diverse and global community, and praying for conversions through evangelism. Acts 29 will succeed to the extent that it recruits church planters dedicated to leading church-planting churches, assesses men based on core competencies to lead church-planting churches, and develops men who are planting or leading church-planting churches through coaching, training, and support.
