Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year 2021 – Applications Open

Applications are now open until Monday 14 September for Sydney Dance Companys Pre-Professional Year.

Sydney Dance Companys Pre-Professional Year provides a unique opportunity for aspiring professional dancers aged 18 to 24 years to experience full-time training with Sydney Dance Company.

Led by Sydney Dance Companys Head of Training Linda Gamblin, the Pre-Professional Year is designed as a one-year industry experience course. Pre-Professional Year dancers work with over 35 national and international contemporary choreographers and industry specialists each year offering access to a variety of unique movement philosophies and techniques.

Dancers in the Pre-Professional Year work towards completing CUA60113 - Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) over two years, with the option to finish after one year with a CUA50113 - Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance). These nationally recognised qualifications are delivered through an auspice arrangement with Australian Teachers of Dancing Limited (RTO 31624).

Linda, along with Course Coordinator Omer Backley-Astrachan, will be hosting a free virtual open session on Zoom featuring an improvisation class and a Q&A on Sunday 23 August at 11am. Dancers, parents and teachers welcome.
