Over 55's Leisure and Learning Activities

Tai Chi is a great way to build your balance and flexibility, build strength in your muscles and helps to manage pain.

PLEASE NOTE:   A Registration Form found at https://www.cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au/community-care/over-55s-leisure-and-learning must be completed with City of Parramatta Community Care otherwise a ticket for this event cannot be booked. This will give you a Registration No. which you will need to complete the online process.

Important Information:

  • Spaces are limited due to room size capacities, Council employ a “first in best dressed policy”
  • Registrations are essential.
  • Program continuation is subject to participation rates and community interest.
  • It is the responsibility of the participant to communicate all medical issues and injuries with the facilitator prior to facilitation.
  • Participants do so at their own risk and will be required to complete a pre-activity screening questionnaire.

 Do I need to Register with City of Parramatta Council's Over 55s Leisure and Learning

Yes, go to the City of Parramatta website and download a form via the link below and return it to the office for processing this is required to be filled in so you can register with your online booking https://www.cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au/sites/council/files/2018-07/Over%2055s%20Registration%20Form%20-%20July%202018%20to%20June%202019.pdf

 

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes, participants must be 55 years or older to join, you will be asked to fill in a pre-activity assessment form in by your tutor. Sometimes a Carer may be required to accompany you to class.

Adults - Pension ID Cards must be stated at time of booking to obtain concession rate

What should I bring to the event?

Please wear appropriate non-restrictive clothing, comfortable/enclosed shoes, water bottle and a towel.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you can update your information annually with the Over 55s Leisure and Learning, this is done annually or for first time participants via a Registration form and the presentation of your Pension Card.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No your name will appear on the class role. The facilitator will mark you as attended.

(However you do need to have registered with the Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service by completing a registration form as your registration number will be required for bookings.)

The term has already started; can I still join?

Most programs are designed in a way that a participant could join at any point throughout the program if the class has vacancies. Enrolments will be kept open for this purpose however full term fees are required to be paid.

Can I pay as I go? Casual sessions?

Council does not provide this option, attendance must be purchased as a term based package.

Can I pay at the door?

No, Council will not be providing this service, all payments are to be made via Eventbrite.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable to other classes?

No, classes fill quick so any transfers will ONLY be done through the Coordinator before term starts and where a class has a vacancy. If Council needs to cancel or transfer the activity you will be entitled to a refund.

What is the refund policy?

As per Council policy

I am recovering from an injury can I still participate?

It is suggested that you seek medical clearance from your health care professional. Participation is done so at your own risk.

Can I claim against my health insurance?

Programs are delivered by industry qualified professionals; however, the individual terms and conditions of your health insurance provider apply. Please contact your provider for information on what you are covered for and how to claim.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is available near some sites in the suburbs. Public Transport is available from Parramatta railway station – busses run to most venues. 

 If you are attending classes at Parramatta, paid street parking is available and Westfield shopping centre offer 3 hours free parking.
