Billie, a young Iraq War soldier, loses her left hand and is sent home. Billie’s book smart teenage sister, Maxine, with the help of her new imaginary friends - Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - and her mother, Susan, attempt to help Billie, but she refuses to talk about her war experience. When grandmother, Franny moves into the household with her twenty wigs, love for old American musicals, wine coolers and cigarettes, she has a plan for a good-bye party that threatens to tear the family even further apart.

Jami Brandli received the John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award, the Holland New Voices Award and The Aurora Theatre Company’s 2014 Global Age Project (GAP) Prize for TECHNICOLOR LIFE. Her play BLISS (or Emily Post is Dead!) was named in The Kilroy’s THE LIST. Brandli was also nominated for the 2013 Susan Smith Blackburn Award and a finalist for the Disney ABC TV Fellowship.

The critically acclaimed world premiere of TECHNICOLOR LIFE was presented by Rep Stage as part of the Women’s Voices Theater Festival in Maryland in 2015. This Australian premiere is part of The Depot Theatre’s 2017 Season.

The Depot Theatre is a not‐for‐profit theatre situated within and proudly supported by the historic Addison Road Centre, a thriving inner west hub for culture, arts and the environment visited by over 200,000 people annually. Founded by Julie Baz and David Jeffrey in 2015, The Depot Theatre challenges and entertains its audiences with theatre that is accessible, affordable and – most importantly – a really fun night out.
