The tides will rise as the ice caps melt. Storms will become stronger, and the land will change. At the end of the world, three women fight to survive as their lives rapidly change. One is a hacker after the internet is shut down; one is an entrepreneur, labeled criminal for trying to rise above her station; and one is a warrior at heart, protecting the emerald city that she loves. Inspired by ancient myths and modern shifts, this show considers the course of our world over 100 years of human-driven climate change.
This new solo performance is created by L. Nicol Cabe, a theatre artist and science fiction writer, who toured her first science fiction solo performance, “Infinite Expectation of the Dawn,” around the country last year to several fringe festivals. The latest story-telling-inspired show, “Tidal Surge” has toured to O’ahu Fringe, Rogue Fest, and at the Pocket Theatre in Seattle.
Called “good science fiction” giving audiences “plenty to ponder” (Fresno Bee) and “best seen in pairs …as a starting point for discussions” (King’s River Life), “Tidal Surge” asks hard questions with fantastical, futuristic ecological disaster tales from three women outside the law.
