Come down to the Sooki Lounge and immerse yourself in a Saturday afternoon session of terrestrial sounds from some of Melbourne’s finest music producers in support of a good cause.

The Bob Brown Foundation is campaigning to protect Tasmania's takayna / Tarkine as World Heritage and National Park. takayna / Tarkine is 450,000 hectares of wild rivers, spectacular coastline, mountains, button grass plains and the largest tract of temperate rainforest in Australia - and all at the mercy of logging, mining and damaging off-road vehicle activity.

Logging of two magnificent areas of forest near the Frankland River is scheduled for this February and we need all the help we can muster to stop this destruction and protect takayna / Tarkine for all time.

Tune to the Tarkine to help us save this remarkable place.

Artists contributing their tunes for the Foundations ability to campaign for wild and scenic places like the Tarkine and prevent logging in such areas are: SNED, Animatronix and griff.

Have a sneak peak at their music online and bring your friends down to Sooki lounge for a nice Saturday afternoon session.

Elf Tranzporter

A founding member of one of Australia’s early legendary underground hip hop acts, MetaBass’n’Breath, Elf delivers ‘heart-core’ lyricism, home-made instrumentation and cypher-driven beatbox skills to audiences throughout Australia and abroad.

Whether rhyming over electronic beats, rocking with a live band, or dropping an improvised ‘character-driven’ a cappella within a theater production [i.e. The Bridge (Australia’s first hip hop play – 1995): Diatribe (Melbourne Workers Theater – 2005)], ET’s fresh and original styles, consistently manage to bridge the gap that often divides music made to energize the dance floor with that of music intended to provoke thought and raise consciousness.

Over the course of his years performing, Mr. Tranzporter has managed to share the stage with a variety of world class acts including: The legendary beat-poet, Allen Ginsberg, Grand Wizard Theodore, The Roots, Project Blowed, Zion I, Mos Def & Talib Kweli (Blackstar), Living Legends, Spearhead, Kid Lucky, Black Alicious, Ozomatli, Fat Boy Slim, The Invisible Scratch Pickles, Z-Trip, Jeru the Damaga, Run DMC, DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, Jurassic 5, Public Enemy, John Butler Trio, Australian High Court Judge, Justice Michael Kirby and M1 (Dead Prez).

ET’s International tours over the last few years have included 6 week series of shows in Japan (2009) promoting his debut LP, ‘Ethereal Lotus Fleet’ as well as a tour tour (2011), to Europe with his crew Combat Wombat commencing with the Fusion Festival (East Germany), and continuing on through the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and France along with solo performances in the US, (Chicago, NYC and LA).

About Animatronix

Animatronix is a Sonic Wizard, exploring the self through sound, trying to make sense of the world and our place in it by spending most of his time tinkering in the studio to produce something that may have a positive effect on others. The project is a story of striving for balance, harnessing the depths of spirit through undertones of tribal bass, and the beautiful aspects of existence through emotive melody. These polarities exist in harmony through the journey of the music, as it offers a reflection of how these dualistic qualities in ourselves do not have to be opposing, but can form a synergy.

Releases on Shanti Planti, Universal Tribe Records, Street Ritual, Mystic Sound Records.

Some of the acts Animatronix has had the pleasure to performed alongside: Aes Dana, Carbon Based Life Forms, Eurythmy, Bird Of Prey, Quanta, Whitebear. A few of the festivals performed at: Yemaya Festival, Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore, Dragon Dreaming, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Strawberry Festival, Maitreya and many more.

About griff

griff is one of Australia’s leading purveyors of highly varied and unique bass music. Having honed his craft while working at the legendary Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne, and currently a sound engineer at ABC Radio in Melbourne, he now spends the majority of his time hunkered down in his Melbourne studio.
His legendary all original sets have brought rhythmic enlightenment to festival and club crowds in Australia and throughout the world. Never satisfied to stick to one genre, tempo or time signature, griff is always looking for ways to apply his production methods to all sorts of different styles of music.
Fresh from a tour that included Envision Festival in Costa Rica and club shows in Canada, he also took a quick jaunt to Portugal to play to a sea of wonderful weirdos at the Alchemy Circle at Boom Festival.

griff has performed numerous times at iconic events like Shambhala Music Festival in Canada, Symbiosis in California, Let Them Eat Cake in his hometown of Melbourne and has been a mainstay at Rainbow Serpent Festival for the last five years, playing sets on the Market, Sunset and Chill stages. His intention to create all manners of different styles of music means that he can always play appropriate original material in any setting.

Since 2009, griff has released a multitude of albums, EPs and remixes on renowned labels such as Omelette, Addictech, Slurp Music, Adapted and Buxton Records. This includes one of his proudest creations to date, a collaboration with his brother Bryn, under the pseudonym “Dersu Uzala”. He has also worked on albums by The Cat Empire, The Jon Butler Trio, Blue King Brown, The Dirty Three and many more.
All that is required for his live setup is either a Pioneer or Allen & Heath DJ Mixer with two or more channels and a desk height of at least 1.1 metres or sufficient road cases to raise his playing height. griff is quite tall.

griff spells his name with a lowercase “g”, as he is staunchly anticapitalist
