What better way to spend a cold winter’s afternoon than with the warmth and passion of Latin American music, followed by a glass of wine and some delicious food!

Join Coro Austral at 4pm on Sunday 30th July in Glebe Town Hall for ¡Vamos a Cuba! (We’re off to Cuba!), a lively event showcasing choral works from Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru – as well as Spain, the United States and Australia! Many of these works will feature in the Festival Tour of Cuba Coro Austral will undertake in November this year, culminating in participation at the renowned Festival Internacional de Coros (International Choir Festival) in Santiago de Cuba.

“Cuban music is at the heart of Latin American music, and Santiago is at the heart of choral music in Cuba”, says Artistic Director Margot McLaughlin, who was fortunate enough to visit Cuba and participate in the Festival in 2013. “This concert is what Coro Austral is all about. There is a huge wealth of great music out there, and this is a chance for our audience to enjoy some of the incredible variety of Latin American music mixed with works from other cultures, including Spanish, Jewish and Australian.”

Since Margot formed the choir in 2010, Coro Austral has gained an excellent reputation as a skilled chamber choir specialising in the authentic presentation of Spanish and Latin American choral works as well as music from other traditions worldwide.

¡Vamos a Cuba! takes place in Glebe Town Hall, 160 St Johns Rd Glebe at 4.00pm on Sunday 30th July. Tickets are $30 with $25 concessions (children under 12 free), and can be purchased online at Sticky Tickets. Refreshments and wine will be available after the performance.
