The Young Business Leaders Program has been designed to help inspire, empower and engage high school aged students in the Beenleigh and Yatala region, giving them the tools, knowledge and platform to be able to launch and grow their own small businesses from Beenleigh while they’re still in high school.

Program At A Glance:

This program is free to join and is open to high school students from Beenleigh State High School, Rivermount College, Canterbury College, Windaroo State High School, Livingstone College and Trinity College. The program will take place from 3:30 - 5:00 at Canterbury College every Thursday afternoon from the 30th of April to the 18th of June (Week 2 - 8, Term Two). We ask that students make their own way to Canterbury College each week to participate in the program. Students may enter the program in teams of 1-5 people.

About The Program:

Delivered by the BOP Industries team as part of the Queensland Young Entrepreneurs Hub, the program has been designed to encourage high school students to start their own small businesses, building their business knowledge from a young age. With a structured program run in an after-school format over the space of a term, this program combines weekly in-person sessions and masterclasses with online support to give students every chance of success in their business ventures.

With a focus on small business, by the end of the program students will have developed a prototype of their product and they will be pitching to a team of judges for investment to help grow their business. Students will be challenged to develop a product that they can then sell at the local Beenleigh markets at the conclusion of the program. With this focus on small business and market stall style products, we will be showing students how they can continue to run and grow their businesses after they have completed the program.

With the BOP Industries team facilitating, students will be learning about business fundamentals such as business models, product design, branding and launch strategies, as well as advanced business concepts where necessary such as setting up an ecommerce store, Facebook and Instagram marketing, packaging design and more.

Presented by the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber Of Commerce, this program is designed to cultivate and grow young business leaders in the Beenleigh region, showing young people how they can be their own boss and grow fantastic businesses from Beenleigh.
